Job/Internship Description Position Information Job TitleFGCU CERT Management Intern - Emergency Management (OPS) Job Description The FGCU Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Management Intern assists the Director, Emergency Management with planning, organizing, and coordinating FGCU CERT Registered Student Organization (RSO). Required Qualifications Enrolled as a degree seeking student at Florida Gulf Coast University at the time of hire and throughout the appointment. Must have a minimum GPA 3.0 and be in good conduct standing with the University. Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook). Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work nights and weekends as necessary. Flexible work schedule with 9-20 hours available per week. Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated experience with Emergency Management. Experience with OneNote and website design programs. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities *Knowledge of University building locations and departments on campus. *Knowledge of FGCU RSO organizational requirements and timelines. *Knowledge of social media platforms. *Knowledge of Emergency Management through completion of coursework. *Knowledge of budget control principles, practices and procedures. *Skill in public speaking. *Ability to interact in a professional manner with a diverse group of staff, faculty, students, and the community in a service-oriented environment. *Ability to take initiative to plan, organize, coordinate and perform work in various situations when numerous and diverse demands are involved. *Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion. *Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments accurately and with attention to detail. *Ability to exercise a high degree independent judgement in the establishment, interpretation, application, and enforcement of all rules, regulations, and policies. Physical Demands Salary RangeCollege Credit and possible $500.00 stipend at the end of the internship Job Duties Essential Job Duties *Oversees the communication and activities of the FGCU CERT Officers, Command Staff, and General Staff as outlined in the FGCU CERT Constitution and ICS Command structure. *Completes RSO paperwork, officer training, and other RSO requirements timely. *Oversees compliance of University policies and procedures, FEMA protocol, Volunteer Florida requirements, and other processes related to CERT program operations. *Oversees the annual FGCU CERT Budget including SG Budget submission, SG Senate Bills, revenue and expenses related to grants and/or other accounts. *Maintains current and accurate information in databases to track FGCU CERT training completion, meeting attendance, active members and participants. *Oversees FGCU CERT communication efforts related to marketing, training programs, tabling efforts and social media. *Coordinates and schedules FGCU CERT meetings and trainings with Campus Reservations and other campus departments as needed. *Sends weekly situation report to all FGCU CERT members. *Determines FGCU CERT programs and activities in relation to the Emergency Management annual emergency preparedness education and communication calendar based on the FEMA calendar and University events. *Assists with gathering, reviewing and compiling of emergency preparedness training items for creation of Emergency Management training programs on Canvas or other University platform for training. *Prepares, coordinates and evaluates FGCU CERT training programs. *Assists with the organization and preparation of campus-wide educational activities. *Establishes and documents FGCU CERT Standard Operating Procedures. *Acts as Emergency Management Liaison to CERT in the event of a campus emergency and/or activation and deployment of FGCU CERT members. *Assists with tracking of provided resources to assist students with graduation.
