Duties Include rooming patients, vital signs, phone triage, chart prep, scheduling, answering incoming calls and collaborating with management, advanced practitioners, and physicians to ensure quality patient centered care.REQUIREMENTS: Completion of drug screening to comply with a Drug Free Workplace.Completion of background check with the ability to be bonded if needed.Valid Driver's LicenseEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School graduate or equivalent.Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant Program orTwo years previous Medical Assistant Experience.Proficient in Spelling and GrammarComputer ExperienceCustomer Service ExperiencePREFERRED CERTIFICATION: Current Basic Life Support Certification.Medical Assistant CertificationOTHER REQUIREMENTS: Reliable transportation for travel to satellite office(s) if neededRequirements for Staff Members Acting as Qualified InterpretersStaff members who are bilingual and acting as interpreters in our office are required to:Be proficient in both English and the non-English language;Be able to interpret effectively, accurately and impartially;Know any necessary specialized vocabulary, terminology, and phraseology;Understand the confidentiality requirements to perform translation services.The above staff member meets the above requirements and they are designated to interpret as part of their job responsibilities.JOB DUTIES: 1. Escort patient from waiting room and obtain their weight. Take patient to exam room. Verify patient demographic information listed in their electronic chart. Complete a full set of vital signs on each patient to include, B/P, Pulse, Respirations, Temperature, and Weight, Ascertain whether the patients have an allergy/medications and record in the Encounter Note in EHR. Assist and/or chaperone visit as necessary. Advise physician patient ready for physician visit utilizing the flow tracking system. (Restriction for Non Certified Medical Assistants they are not qualified for CPOE and shall not enter any electronic orders for the provider)2. Check electronic fax folder for any faxes for Prior Auth's, Rx refills, or responses from Insurance companies.3. Check secure messaging and direct messaging in Intergy for patient questions or updated information.4. Answer the phone - taking accurate, detailed messages and relaying to appropriate personnel for follow-up. Utilize phone message/task system. Notify providers of consults and follow-through to ensure physician has received. Answer Medical Assistant phone line, prescription phone line, and results phone line. Schedule appointments when necessary.5. Assist with prescription calls - calling the pharmacy after physician approval of prescriptions. Document all prescriptions in the prescription writer, and notify patients that prescriptions have been called into their pharmacy.6. Return any clinical calls including prior authorizations for medications and patient assistance programs.7. Adequately stock each examination room and notify clinical manager of any supply requirements on a timely basis to allow for possible back orders.8. Maintain an organized medication sample closet and notify clinical manager for any medication requirements.9. Clean all examination rooms at the end of the day to include: Wiping off all counters and examination tables with disinfectant spray, returning magazines to the waiting area, sweeping floors if necessary, empty trash, shred bins and check date on the red bags and sharps containers.10. Maintain the highest level of patient confidentiality. Ensure that all ancillary passwords are secure and kept current.11. Review all electronic charts and ensure that all necessary records are in the chart, i.e., pathology reports, operative reports, labs, visit notes, referring physician notes, etc.12. Contact the referring physician office for new patients or new consultations to insure that the physician has pertinent medical records. o via fax through transcription writer OR o manually; and, obtain results from online services such as Florida Radiology, Radiology Regional Center, Lab Corp, Quest, LMHS, and SWR or call to obtain results.13. Responsible to assist with phone calls from referring doctor's office that request copies of medical records to be faxed right away and enter the request into patient privacy system.14. Assist patients at education visits for Hepatitis C and Crohn's disease treatments and document using form in the EHR system.15. Assist when necessary in the medical records area, importing transcription, scanning medical records, and tasking pertinent information to providers when needed.16. Fill out Capsule questionnaire and obtain signed order when provider indicates, schedule office procedure. If assigned to be in office for Capsule day assist patient with placing capsule and see patient back at end of day to remove equipment.17. As needed for back up review monthly recall list to determine when patient is due to come back to our office for next appointment & transmit electronic files for letter 1 and letter 2 every 30 days, enter admin charges for each patient who is to receive a recall letter.18. Abide by all OSHA requirements.19. Complete your daily cleaning assignment prior to leaving for the day.20. Assist with additional tasks as instructed by the clinical manager21. If box checked, Deemed qualified by the practice to provide translation of English to Spanish in order to communicate with patients who have limited English capabilities.
