Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg Discipline: RN Duration: Ongoing 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days Employment Type: Staff Location: Gulf Coast Medical Center -13681 Doctor's WayFort Myers FL 33912 Department: General Med Work Type: Full Time Shift: Shift 1/7:00:00 AM to 7:30:00 PM Minimum to Midpoint Pay Rate: $30.27 - $40.86 / hour Summary The Registered Nurse is responsible for the safe, efficient delivery and documentation of patient care using the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The nurse performs in multiple roles including clinician, teacher, researcher, leader, and professional developer , utilizing critical thinking, problem-solving, and prioritization skills. The RN directs and coordinates patient care according to established nursing practice standards, the American Nurses Association (ANA) guidelines, the Florida Nurse Practice Act , and other regulatory standards. Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams ensures effective care delivery and optimal patient outcomes. The nurse integrates knowledge of patient age, cultural diversity, and individual needs into care, contributing to quality improvement initiatives and promoting excellence in customer service. Practice is guided by the Code of Ethics for Nurses and its interpretative statements. Requirements Education: Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing required. Associates or Bachelors degree preferred. Experience: Clinical experience required; must successfully complete department-specific competency assessments. Experience requirements may vary by department. Refer to Nursing Addendums for details. Licensure: Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Florida required. Certifications: American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) required, valid for a minimum of 90 days after hire. Additional certifications may be required depending on department (see Nursing Addendums). Other Requirements: Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
