Job Description Direct Metals, Inc. Job Title: Customer Service Representative Department: Sales Wage: $18/ Hour Full Time Position Benefits available after Introductory Review period Summary The Customer Service Representative is responsible for handling in-person, telephone, fax, and email inquiries regarding Roofing products, product availability, and pricing/order status, as well as entering all resulting orders into the system in a fast paced Distribution environment. Knowledge of Roofing Materials / Fasteners is highly desired. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Communicate with customers by phone, fax, email, or in person and receives orders for building products. Enter orders into inventory and billing program for processing. Solicit sales of new or additional products. Other duties may be assigned. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty, as noted below, satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience One year of college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge Ability to learn and apply Roofing Product applications and communicate base specifications. Knowledge of Roofing Materials and Fasteners would receive priority consideration. Language Skills Must have a strong and proven record of Customer Service skills, and ability to communicate effectively with Customers. Must have ability to read and interpret documents such as purchase order documents and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Mathematical Skills Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic knowledge of Inventory control software; MS Word, MS Publisher, MS Outlook and MS Excel Spreadsheet software, and be proficient in typing.
