Dean Street RoasteryReports to: -Dean Street General Manager/Food
and Beverage DirectorStatus: Non-Exempt -Job Summary:Coffee Barista
will be able to prepare and serve hot and cold beverages, including
various types of coffee and tea. - Barista responsibilities include
educating customers on our drinks menu, making recommendations
based on their preferences, up-selling special items and taking
orders. -Essential Functions
Greet customers as they approach the
roasteryGive customers drink menus and answer their questions
regarding ingredientsTake orders while paying attention to details
(e.g. preferences of coffee blend, dairy and sugar ratios)Prepare
beverages following recipesServe beverages and snacks such as
cookies, pastries and muffins, sandwichesReceive and process
payments (cash and credit cards)Keep the inside of the
roastery/service area cleanMaintain stock of clean mugs, cups and
platesCheck if brewing equipment operates properly and report any
maintenance needsComply with health and safety
regulationsCommunicate customer feedback to managers.Maintains
Company Core Values and professional attitude.Other duties as
assigned by Dean Street Manager or Director of Food &
Beverage.Qualification Standards -Education & Experience
Previous work experience as a Barista
or Sever Hands-on experience or knowledge with how brewing
equipment operatesKnowledge of sanitation regulationsFlexibility to
work various shiftsBasic math skillsAbility to gauge customers'
preferences
Excellent communication skillsHigh
school diploma; relevant training is a plus.Previous hospitality
experience preferredExcellent customer service skillsAbility to use
technology e.g. tablets, iPads - -Physical Demands
Ability to sit or stand for extended
periods of timeAbility to lift 20 lbs. and/or more.Long hours
sometimes required and various shifts.Ability to work in an outside
environment. - -Mental Demands
Make sound judgments quicklyWork on
multiple tasksAble to take directionAbility to work effectively in
stressful, high-pressure situations - -NOTICE: -The hotel business
functions seven days a week, 24 hours a day. - All associates must
always realize this fact and be aware that it may be necessary to
move associates form their accustomed shift as business demands. -
