Clarke of Fort Myers, FL is seeking to hire a seasonal Aquatic Service Technician that will be responsible for a comprehensive inspection of aquatic ecosystems and the application of appropriate herbicide and/or algaecide to control or eliminate invasive aquatic plants and algae species. This position is perfect for someone who is passionate about public health, sustainability, and enjoys working outdoors and around water. This position earns a competitive wage of $13/hr. and generally works a 7:00AM-3:30PM shift Monday Friday (end times may vary based on business needs). The seasonal Aquatic Service Technician works on average 25-40 hours per week and supports the summer/fall seasonal operations.


As a seasonal Aquatic Services Technician, you will drive your Company provided pickup truck/trailer to account locations and identify plant and algae species to be treated. After successfully identifying treatment areas, you will operate motorboats and/or ATV's to apply herbicides and algaecides via a backpack sprayer or pressurized spray application. You love your seasonal Aquatic Service Technician job as you get to be out of an office and working on the water during the early morning and afternoon hours. You have excellent attention to detail as you accurately measure products and document your findings.

When you are not visiting customer properties, you are performing inspections and maintenance on your equipment, attending training, or helping in other aspects of your field. Your passion for public health, healthy waterways and nature shines through as you complete your work each day.

* Be 18 years of age or older * Possess a high school degree or equivalent with high school level math skills * Communicate effectively in English in both written and verbal forms * Have a valid Driver's License with an excellent driving record * Ability to sit and drive a vehicle for extended periods of time as well as walk extensively * Must be able to work through the end of our season (November/December) * May be required to pass the Florida Aquatics Applicator exam (training provided) * Capable of using handheld technical devices including, but not limited to, smartphones, GPS, and system applications * Have good physical dexterity and the ability to bend, lift, and carry all water systems (some in excess of 100 lbs.) with a partner * Be able to lift and carry backpacks of up to 75 pounds * Candidate must be comfortable performing assigned duties outdoors while walking through various and challenging terrain, including but not limited to water, heavy vegetation and uneven land, throughout residential communities, urban environments and forested areas where environmental conditions are affected by weather. * Be able to perform potential manual labor such as the hand cutting of invasive species, raking of algae and aquatic plants, and the use of a weedwhacker * Be able to read and follow maps * Have good physical dexterity * Must be comfortable working in and around water and have the ability to swim * Ability to effectively partner with cross functional teams to meet performance objectives and to support mission and vision of the Company * Ability to travel to multiple site locations to meet the needs of the business
