Position Details Position Title Instructor in English UIW Mission University of the Incarnate Word is a Catholic institution that welcomes to its community persons of diverse backgrounds, in the belief that their respectful interaction advances the discovery of truth, mutual understanding, self-realization, and the common good. Position Summary The Instructor in English teaches Composition I, Composition II, and World Literature Studies in the UIW core.This is a part-time, non-tenure-track position.This applicant pool will remain online and be used to hire interested part-time faculty as needed. This position is considered a Responsible Employee under Title IX federal regulations and Mandatory Reporter under Texas state law and The UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy. As a Mandatory Reporter, this position requires you as the employee to promptly report any incident that you witness or receive information about violating Title IX. These reporting responsibilities are set out in the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy. Essential Functions The Instructor in English prepares and teaches Composition I, Composition II, and World Literature Studies courses, conducts lectures, leads classroom discussion, and other classroom activities. Instructors are expected to construct essay assignments and examinations and other performance-based activities that provide evidence of learning by students in the course. Instructors work collaboratively with department faculty to ensure that standard curriculum outcomes are met. Instructors adhere to all UIW policies and procedures, including timely record keeping of student activities, fair and equitable evaluation of student performance, and timely feedback to students regarding their performance in the course. Official duties and responsibilities of faculty members at the University include teaching, scholarship, service and professional activities. In all matters, faculty are expected to maintain the highest standards of professional ethics consistent with the UIW Mission.
