CT Technologists perform a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgement, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiographic imaging, CT imaging diagnosis and treatment planning. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required. The services should be provided with attention to detail and friendly guest services.




Responsibilities:



  • Receive and follow directives and instructions from radiologists, diagnostic imaging center managers, modality supervisor, CT Development Specialist and Technical Director to properly perform position functions.


  • Address all patients, staff and visitors in a friendly, courteous and professional manner.


  • Provides personal, patient and visitors personal protective equipment in accordance with safety standards and policies/procedures/protocols set in place by Radiology Regional and CDC guidelines.


  • Operates radiographic and fluoroscopic and CT scanning equipment and ASSISTS physicians/ radiologists as appropriate in accordance with Florida Administrative Code (10D-91) and established organizational policy.


  • Calculates and selects proper technical factors such as voltage, current, exposure time, focal distance based on such information as patient age, physical condition and suspected pathology; and CT technical factors such as scan time, field of view, intervals, window levels, window width.


  • Complete IV training program and obtain required IV certification per the standard of RRC to include ISTA handheld device.


  • Prepares and positions patients for CT scanning, radiographic, and fluoroscopic procedures; ensures patient modesty, confidentiality and privacy.


  • Prepares IV solution sets and contrast agents for administration and assists radiologist/ physician during administration. Prepares and administers contrast agents as ordered.


  • Follows established policies and procedures including safety and precautions.


  • Schedules patient examinations according to physician's orders as directed.


  • Explains proper preparation to patients prior to procedure. Verifies appropriate RX or VO to exam ordered per patient history or diagnosis. Ensures routine exams are properly completed and accurate information such as patient demographics, account number, date of exam, date of birth, address, referring physician name, referring physician address and correct CPT code for exam ordered. Obtain patient signature and technologist initials on router and history form. VERIFY 2 TO BE TRUE.


  • Provides personal, patient, and patient family and assisting staff protection in accordance with prescribed radiation and equipment safety standards and policies/procedures/protocols.


  • Has an understanding and is able to navigate through the RRC Informer accessing technical protocols commonly used forms, radiologist schedule, and required annual training.


  • Contributes to and maintains good working rapport with all patients, personnel and physicians/ radiologists to ensure that the organization's objectives can effectively meet the needs of patients and physicians.


  • Assures that patient rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy and civil rights are maintained.


  • Contributes to an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis throughout the organization.


  • Assures formal introduction of self by name to all patients and addresses patient by name; in a friendly, courteous and professional manner. Assures treatment of all patients with warmth, dignity and consideration.


  • Reports all unsafe, hazardous conditions, defective equipment, etc. to supervisor immediately.


  • Assures that work and/or assignment areas are maintained in a neat, safe, clean and orderly fashion. Assists with laundry of patient gowns, sheets and other linens.


  • Assists with quality control duties and assignments as required.


  • Attends and participates with in-service educational classes, seminars, staff meetings and on-the-job training programs as required.


  • Assists with training new employees as needed.


  • Handle stressful and emergency situations with a calm rational demeanor.


  • Demonstrate the ability to set priorities and maintain a clean and organized work area.


  • Represents the company to the community in a positive manner.


  • Maintains and compiles records and reports as necessary.




    Education



    • Required: High School Diploma or GED


    • Required: Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program or equivalent hospital based program


    • Possess current ARRT and State of Florida certification to practice medical radiography.


    • Complete the required hours of continuing education per certification or annual period, to satisfy State of Florida and Federal requirements.


    • Completed required hours of continuing education per certification or annual period, as require by ACR, IAC, and State and Federal regulatory agencies.


    • CT Certification by ARRT is desirable


    • Required: CPR Basic Life Support (BLS) certification



      Experience



      • Strong CT Technologist experience and knowledge


      • 3 years or more of radiography Experience is preferred in an outpatient setting


      • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
