GENERAL LABOR/GENERAL SERVICES STAFF

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This is a 6-7 Day Temporary Assignment for the Food for Florida, Florida's Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP)

This position is responsible for assisting the Department of Children and Families Site Manager and other mangers for site set-up and dismantling of the DSNAP Food for Florida location. This person reports to the DCF Site Manager or Area Manager. Work locations for these positions may be in Collier, Lee and Charlotte Counties.

The individual in this position may be required to work non-traditional work hours. This individual will be expected to report to work timely and complete their assigned shift hours or provide advanced notice to their immediate supervisor. Due to the nature of a DSNAP Food for Florida operation, the individual must be willing and able to immediately adapt to the work requirements of this position, including standing for long periods of time and working outdoors. All individuals may be asked to perform duties outside of their assigned role based on the business needs. *Note- overnight travel may be required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Sets up the tables and chairs at the site
* Responsible for emptying trash cans into the dumpster during the day
* Responsible for site clean-up throughout the day
* Responsible for general maintenance at the site
* Responsible for removing tables and chairs and loading equipment
* Carries equipment and other supplies as needed to and from storage and work areas
* Responsible for various other duties depending on type of site location
* Assisting with distribution of ice and water
* Transports supplies as directed
* Other duties as requested

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

* Ability to follow verbal instructions with minimal supervision
* Ability to deal effectively and communicate well with others
* Ability to maintain orderliness and cleanliness of an assigned area
* Ability to deal effectively in high-stress situations
* Ability to endure a 12-15-hour workday- outside
* Skilled in general maintenance and repairs
* Must be able to lift 75 Ibs. or more
* Valid license and clean driving record
* Box truck or trailer experience preferred

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT:

It is the policy of the Florida Department of Children and Families that any applicant being considered for employment must successfully complete a State and National criminal history check as a condition of employment before beginning employment, and, if applicable be screened in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, F.S., and Chapter 408, F.S.

No applicant may begin employment until the background screening results are received, reviewed for any disqualifying offenses, and approved by the Agency. Background screening shall include, but not be limited to, fingerprinting for State and Federal criminal records checks through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and may include local criminal history checks through local law enforcement agencies. Employees are subject to background re-screening at least every five (5) years.
