Position Summary:Tidal Basin seeks a competent Eligibility Specialist to join the team supporting our client.The position will assist in one or more programs that provide temporary housing and temporary or permanent repairs to damaged homes in the recovery from Hurricane Ian. This position represents an exceptional opportunity to join an expert team to facilitate change and help make a lasting difference. The Eligibility Specialist is responsible for working with hurricane-affected program applicants to review application materials and come to an eligibility determination for services. The Eligibility Specialist serves as the primary point of contact between the applicant and the program, and is expected to provide exceptional customer services while assisting the client in coordinating necessary services and resources to address their sheltering or repair needs. Eligibility Specialists will be responsible for meeting goals and objectives as assigned, complying with all federal, state and local regulatory requirements, and adhering to all contractual or prescribed stakeholder expectations or requirements. The Eligibility Specialist will report to an Eligibility Supervisor. This is a production-based program, so clearing assigned caseloads through queues is an essential job function and success in the position will be evaluated accordingly. Duties/Responsibilities: Provide eligibility/case management services and work effectively as part of a team. Specific duties may include:

• Perform outreach, intake, and assessments of potential applicants, gather documents to establish program eligibility.
• Once established, maintain a caseload of clients, and sustain regular and required contacts within guidelines.
• Maintain a high standard to protect client information.
• Provide resources and referrals to clients to meet their disaster-related unmet needs.
• Maintain client-related data systems, including case notes and a complete system of record entries.
• Attend meetings and training provided by Eligibility Supervisors/Lead, internal and external.
• Work collaboratively with Eligibility Supervisor and Program Management to meet program goals and performance targets.
• Exhibit a strong work ethic and a desire to adhere to strict boundaries and professional ethics in the care of others, awareness of the impact of a disaster on the community, family, and individual.
• Maintain a complete understanding of all applicable Program policies and requirements.
• Other duties as required.

  • Excellent applicant relations and an understanding of local, state, and federal government structure
  • Experience working with grant programs Required Education and Experience:
    • High school diploma AND
    • 2+ years in case management, application processing, customer service, grant-funded or government programs or related fields
    • Proficient in MS Office Suite
